1. Keep the indoor area clean to minimize dust, and frequently wipe down toy surfaces with clean, dry, and soft tools.
2. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight and keep the toy dry both inside and out.
3. When cleaning, you can take appropriate measures based on the size of the toy. For smaller items, first secure any wear-sensitive parts with tape, then place them directly into the washing machine on a gentle cycle. After washing, spin-dry and hang them in a cool, shaded area to air dry completely. Don’t forget to gently pat the toy intermittently to fluff up the fur and keep the filling soft and bouncy.
For larger toys, locate the stuffing openings, carefully cut the stitching, and remove the filling material (such as polyester cotton). You may choose not to remove the filling from certain areas—especially those critical for maintaining the toy’s shape—simply securing these vulnerable parts with tape instead. Next, clean and thoroughly dry the outer skin, then carefully stuff the cleaned filling back into the toy’s outer shell, reshape it, and finally sew the opening closed.
4. For plush or fabric toys—or dolls—equipped with high-tech electronics, circuitry, or audio systems, remove the electronic components or batteries before cleaning to prevent water damage.
5. After the cleaned toys are dried, use a clean comb or a similar tool to gently brush them in the direction of the fur, smoothing and neatening the coat for a sleek, attractive appearance.
6. Check whether the insides of the plush toys are clean and hygienic—substandard toys may contain discarded plastics, fiber cords, paper scraps, or even the notoriously banned "black-hearted cotton," which is explicitly prohibited by national regulations.
7. Twist and turn the eyes, nose, and mouth of the plush toy to check their durability. If the small parts on the toy fail to meet the tensile strength requirements specified by national standards, the product is considered substandard.
8. For the sake of your health, you should regularly clean and sanitize your plush toys.
9. A simple and effective disinfection method involves gently and repeatedly ironing the pile with a high-powered steam iron, which also helps eliminate dirt and germs.
10. The key to washing plush toys at home: For toys with few small parts, you can hand-wash or machine-wash them using warm water at 30–40°C. Use a neutral laundry detergent during cleaning. For long-pile plush toys, a cashmere-specific detergent works even better.
11. To keep toys from getting dirty easily and extend their lifespan, don’t throw away the original packaging—whether it’s a cardboard box or plastic bag—when you first purchase them. You can reuse it later to protect toys from dust during storage. In humid climates, to prevent toys from becoming damp, place desiccants inside when storing. Additionally, avoid piling up toys as much as possible to prevent deformation or damage.

The longer a plush toy is used, the more foreign substances—both on its surface and inside—tend to accumulate. Simply rinsing it with plain water is no longer sufficient to achieve thorough cleaning, so it’s necessary to add an appropriate amount of detergent to the water for effective disinfection and sterilization. After washing the plush toy thoroughly, gently wrap it in a dry towel and then spin it in a dryer or wring it out by hand to avoid damaging the surface.
